🌍 Who We Are
Chhori is a women-led non-profit organization working at the national level in Nepal. The name Chhori, meaning “daughter” in Nepali, reflects our core mission: to build a society where no girl or woman is discriminated against because of her gender.
We are a collective of 35 dedicated women members, governed by an all-women executive board. This is a conscious and important choice. As an organization working for girls and women, we believe that leadership must come from those who understand these realities firsthand. Our structure ensures authenticity, trust, and deep community connection in everything we do.
💡 What We Do
Chhori addresses some of the most urgent and complex challenges affecting women and girls in Nepal. Our work is both preventive and responsive, ensuring that we not only support survivors but also tackle the root causes of inequality.
Our key areas of work include:
- Prevention of human trafficking and unsafe migration
- Protection from sexual exploitation and abuse
- Addressing menstrual discrimination and harmful social norms
- Protection, rehabilitation, and empowerment of victims and survivors
- Advocacy, coordination, and national-level networking
Through this multi-layered approach, we aim to create long-term, sustainable change rather than short-term solutions.
📍 Where We Work
We currently implement active projects in four key districts of Nepal:
- Nuwakot
- Lalitpur
- Bhaktapur
- Kathmandu
In addition, our reach extends nationwide through capacity-building programs, community trainings, and awareness campaigns. These initiatives allow us to work not only at the grassroots level but also influence broader societal change across Nepal.
🌱 How We Create Impact
Our approach is holistic and community-driven:
- We educate and raise awareness to prevent exploitation before it happens
- We support survivors with protection, guidance, and empowerment
- We work with local communities to shift deeply rooted social norms
- We collaborate with networks and stakeholders to strengthen systemic change
This combination enables us to address both the symptoms and root causes of gender-based inequality.
🤝 Why Our Work Matters
In many parts of Nepal, girls and women still face systemic discrimination, violence, and limited opportunities. These challenges are often interconnected—poverty, lack of education, and harmful traditions increase vulnerability to exploitation and abuse.
Chhori exists to break this cycle.
By empowering women and girls, strengthening communities, and advocating for change, we contribute to a future where every daughter has the chance to live safely, with dignity and equal opportunities.
